Vice Admiral Sir Timothy James Hamilton Laurence, KCVO, CB, ADC (born 1 March 1955) is a retired officer in the Royal Navy and the husband of Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II.
Naval Career: Laurence had a distinguished career in the Royal Navy, rising to the rank of Vice Admiral. He served in various roles and commands throughout his career. He was promoted to rear admiral in July 2004 and appointed assistant chief of the Defence Staff. In 2007 he was promoted to vice admiral and appointed chief executive of Defence Estates (renamed Defence Infrastructure Organisation in 2008). He retired from the Navy in August 2010.
Personal Life: He married Princess Anne on 12 December 1992 at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral Castle in Scotland. They do not have any children together. Timothy Laurence is a step-father to Princess Anne's children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.
Public Role: Since his marriage, Timothy Laurence has supported Princess Anne in her duties as a member of the Royal Family. He often accompanies her on official engagements and public appearances, but maintains a relatively low public profile compared to some other members of the Royal Family.
